For many, the dance party is what can make or break a wedding reception. This puts a lot of pressure on the DJ to not only know what songs to play, but also what songs not to play.
At Crown DJ's, we always ask our couples to give us some song suggestions for a Request list and a Do Not Play list prior to the big day to help us have a better understanding of their likes and dislikes.
So we decided to open up the archives and take a look back at our 200+ weddings over the last 6 years to see what songs were most frequently banned by the Bride & Groom.
You probably won't be too surprised by our findings:
"The Chicken Dance"
"YMCA" by Village People
"Electric Boogie (Electric Slide)" by Marcia Griffiths
"Cotton Eye Joe" by Rednex
"Cha-Cha Slide" by DJ Casper
"Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke
"Cupid Shuffle" by Cupid
"Happy" by Pharrell Williams
"Macarena" by Los Del Rio
Also, it is worth pointing out a few artists/songs that were once very popular at weddings and now they're almost completely clearing dance floors.
"Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson
"Ignition Remix" by R. Kelly
